Capital Bank of Jordan Raises USD 155 Million Green Subordinated Loan

Capital Bank of Jordan has raised a USD 155 million Green Subordinated Loan qualifying as Tier 2 regulatory capital, in one of the largest transactions of its kind in Jordan. The 10-year facility was led by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with co-funding from the ILX Fund, the OPEC Fund for International Development, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the Green for Growth Fund, and the SANAD Fund for MSME.

Established in 1995 and headquartered in Amman, Capital Bank of Jordan is the third-largest bank by assets in the country, listed on the Amman Stock Exchange with operations across Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The bank employs over 2,600 people and counts the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) among its notable shareholders.

The facility strengthens Capital Bank's Tier 2 capital base and expands its capacity to lend to small and medium-sized enterprises, supporting business growth, employment, and economic resilience across its markets. The green designation reflects the bank's commitment to sustainable and inclusive finance.

Alpen Capital – IMAP GCC acted as exclusive financial advisor to Capital Bank of Jordan on the transaction.
