Capstone Headwaters advises General Photonics on its acquisition by Luna Innovations

Capstone Headwaters’ Industrial Technology Group advised General Photonics Corporation (“General Photonics” or the “Company”) on its sale to Luna Innovations Incorporated (“Luna”) (NASDAQ: LUNA).

Based in Chino, CA, General Photonics is a provider of advanced photonics solutions for the measurement, management and control of polarization and delay. The Company’s optical instruments and modules offer solutions for networks, sensor systems and biomedical diagnosis systems across multiple end markets including life sciences, telecommunications and aerospace & defense. General Photonics’ extensive IP portfolio and unique engineering expertise allow the Company’s product portfolio to meet the industry’s highest performance and reliability standards. 

Luna Innovations, based in Roanoke, VA, is a provider of fiber optic sensing and test & measurement products worldwide. It operates in two segments, Products & Licensing and Technology Development. The Products & Licensing segment offers fiber optic sensing products as well as test & measurement products to monitor the integrity of fiber optic network components and sub-assemblies. This includes optical vector analyzers, optical backscatter reflectometers and the Phoenix family of tunable lasers as well as distributed sensing systems comprising optical distributed sensor interrogator sensing solution with multiple sensors whose inputs are integrated through a fiber optic network and software.

Capstone Headwaters acted as the exclusive financial advisor to General Photonics. The sale of General Photonics represents another successful advisory assignment in the Photonics sector for Capstone Headwaters’ Industrial Technology Group.
