In this short video, Brent Walker, Managing Partner at Morrison Park Advisors - IMAP Canada speaks with Claire Smedley from IMAP HQ about how AI-driven boutique consulting firms are changing the game and how AI helps can help small investment banking teams achieve great things.
Looking at AI use cases in investment banking, we can see that many teams still use AI tools to replicate past technologies - for example, using ChatGPT primarily as a search assistant. Our view is that, in line with the history of technology adoption, we expect to see next a shift towards strategic AI adoption in M&A in which it is used for very different and more transformative purposes.
We are focusing on how AI can strategically transform the M&A business, rather than just support existing processes. There are several examples of this, from expanding technology investment banking practices on the one hand, to rethinking how AI can reshape core activities across transactions.
Our hypothesis is that AI will be at its best when it enables small groups of people to do very big things. As a boutique investment bank, we see this as a chance to compete at scale and become a disruptive force within the industry.
