Gondelbahn Kandersteg-Oeschinensee AG (“GKO”), operator of the Oeschinensee cableway in Switzerland, has acquired Luftseilbahn Kandersteg-Sunnbüel AG (“LKS”), the neighbouring Sunnbüel cableway operator. The transaction secures the long-term future of the Sunnbüel cableway and supports the sustainable development of tourism infrastructure in the Kandersteg region.

The acquisition was driven by LKS’s increasing investment requirements related to the renewal of its operating concession in 2033, which made a standalone continuation of operations increasingly challenging. Following the successful tendering of shares and approval by the Municipality of Kandersteg, GKO achieved the required 90% acceptance threshold to complete the transaction.

Under GKO ownership, the Sunnbüel cableway will be fully integrated operationally and organizationally. All employees will be retained, and the business will continue operating with a phased implementation of operational, branding, and management integration measures. The transaction establishes a stable platform for the long-term development and modernization of the Sunnbüel operations.
