Heath Goldfields Secures USD 65 Million Debt Financing and 700,000 oz Gold Offtake with Trafigura
Heath Goldfields Ltd., a Ghanaian mining company revitalising the historic Bogoso–Prestea Gold Mine, has secured a USD 65 million debt financing facility and a gold offtake agreement with Trafigura, one of the world's leading commodity trading and logistics companies. Under the offtake arrangement, Trafigura has committed to purchase 700,000 ounces of gold from the Bogoso–Prestea operation — a commercial commitment valued at approximately USD 2.8 billion — representing one of the most significant gold offtake commitments in West Africa in recent years.
The debt financing will be used to fund capital expenditure related to Heath Goldfields' medium-term mine plan, following the initial restart of the Bogoso–Prestea operation in December 2024, and for general corporate purposes. The offtake agreement secures a long-term sales channel at competitive market-linked terms, providing revenue certainty as the company scales production. The asset is compliant with SK-1300 standards and is located in Ghana, Africa's leading gold producer, offering a mature regulatory framework and stable operating environment.
The transaction marks a major milestone in the Bogoso–Prestea revival programme and signals Trafigura's confidence in Heath Goldfields' operational capacity and the long-term prospectivity of the asset.
