HolzHaus Bonndorf GmbH is a specialised and highly automated manufacturer of timber houses and, as a general and total contractor, covers the entire construction value chain. The company plans and builds individual single- and multi-family houses as well as commercial properties with timber, additionally offering standardised modular construction lines for scalable solutions in the commercial, residential and tourism segments.
On June 3rd, 2026, HolzHaus Bonndorf GmbH filed for insolvency with the Waldshut-Tiengen Local Court due to over-indebtedness and a lack of a going-concern prognosis. Attorney Daniel Bücheler, from the law firm Bücheler & Kollegen, was appointed as provisional insolvency administrator. Together with the management, Mr. Bücheler successfully managed to keep the business running in order to launch a structured, international investor process on June 15th, 2026. Following an intensive bidding process, HÜBSCHER HOLZBAU AG submitted the most compelling offer and is acquiring the business operations of HolzHaus Bonndorf GmbH effective September 1st, 2026. This transaction has created a sustainable and forward-looking perspective for the continued operation of HolzHaus Bonndorf under the new name HÜBSCHER HOLZHAUS.
With the Bonndorf site, HÜBSCHER HOLZBAU expands its expertise and capacities in the turnkey construction of single- and multi-family timber houses, while at the same time strengthening its presence in Germany. Contract manufacturing of timber framing and wood panel elements for other companies will also be continued – an area for which the site already today is known for high production quality and technical know-how.
“The production is excellent – it’s no coincidence that other companies currently rely on the contract manufacturing services from Bonndorf,” says Vivien Sohn, CEO of HÜBSCHER HOLZBAU. Furthermore, the company benefits from a well-trained workforce and its proximity to the German-Swiss border region. The strengths of both companies thus complement each other naturally. As an independent brand, the Bonndorf site will continue to stand for turnkey single- and multi-family timber houses as well as high-quality contract manufacturing.
“The goal was to implement the transfer and secure the long-term continuation of HolzHaus Bonndorf’s operating business as quickly as possible, as well as to achieve the best possible outcome for the creditors.
