VeloBank S.A., Cerberus Capital Management, IFC - International Finance Corporation, and EBRD on signing a preliminary agreement to acquire the retail operations of Citi Handlowy – a transaction that marks a significant step in building one of the leading challenger banks in Poland. With this acquisition, VeloBank is set to become the 9th largest bank in the country, serving over 2 million customers and managing nearly PLN 80 billion in assets. The deal reflects the strong confidence of international investors in the Polish financial market and will bring tangible benefits to both clients and employees of the combined institution.
VeloBank offers financial solutions for individual, private banking, corporate, and public sector clients. It is among the ten largest banks in Poland.
Citi Handlowy was established through the merger of Bank Handlowy in Warsaw – the oldest commercial bank in Poland – and Citibank (Poland) S.A. In addition to traditional banking services, the Group’s offering includes capital market products and services provided by its brokerage house, as well as leasing products. The Bank has been listed on the main market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 1997.
