Three industrial plants of Masisa Mexico Mexico

Advised Masisa on the divestment of 3 industrial plants and local distribution network in Mexico

IMAP Colombia advised Masisa on the sale transaction of its local distribution network and 3 industrial plants in Mexico (Lerma, Durango, and Zitacuaro). The operation was sold to Inversiones Arauco Internacional Limitada (Arauco), one of the main players in the world in the wood panel industry, for an enterprise value of $160 million.

Masisa and Arauco agreed to exclude the industrial plant in Chihuahua from the transaction, counting on the approval of the Mexican antitrust commission.

This new divestment is in alignment with Masisa’s strategic plan to focus on the higher value added distribution of wood panels in the Andean Region, Central and North America and other export markets.

IMAP Colombia has supported Masisa throughout its divestment plan, which as well as this recent sale transaction in Mexico, also included the sale of both its Argentinian industrial operation to EGGER Holzwerkstoffe GmbH for $155 million and its Brazilian industrial operation to Celulosa Arauco y Constitución S.A. (Arauco) for $103 million, back in 2017.
