Alfing is an industrial group from Älmhult in Småland with roots ranging back to the early 1960’s. The business is conducted under the three branches Alfing Produktion, Alfing Seating and the forest machine manufacturer Terri. Alfing has sales of approximately SEK 200 million with good profitability.
Alfing Produktion offers, through a high level of technical competence and in close collaboration with its customers; design, manufacturing, and surface treatment of products mainly in sheet metal and pipes. Alfing offers a comprehensive concept including assembly, warehousing, and distribution. The company has a well-diversified customer base with customers in over 15 different industries.
Terri is a manufacturer and supplier of forest machines for demanding environments. Alfing acquired the company in 2009. The machines are sold around Europe to forest owners and professional forestry contractors.
For over 50 years, Alfing Seating has designed, manufactured, and assembled chairs for public environments both for sports facilities, schools, and concert halls. The products are divided into three categories: auditorium chairs, congress chairs, and grandstand chairs. The company has also developed a telescopic stand that is tailored to each individual project.
The sellers are Kerstin and Hans Johansson. Hans will continue to work in the company and comments on the deal: “It feels very exciting with this new chapter for Alfing. For us as sellers, it has been important to find a new owner that wants to develop and grow Alfing but who also has a long-term investment horizon. We really think that we have found this in Inev and I personally think it will be very exciting to work closely with them going forward”.
Inev was established in Jönköping in 2017 and is an investment group whose purpose is to invest long-term without any exit strategy in interesting and developable businesses. Inev acquires, develops, and operates companies within the segments Industry and Trade. Since the start, Inev has so far acquired 10 companies and after this transaction, the group has sales of approximately SEK 1.1 billion.
“Alfing is an incredibly well-run company where we see great development opportunities in all three product segments. We are extremely happy that Kerstin and Hans have chosen Inev as their new partner. Now we are determined that we, together with Hans and the company’s employees, will do everything we can to take the company to the next level”, says Sune Lantz, Inev.
Jörgen Larsson, IMAP, comments: “Alfing has generated a great deal of interest during the process. During the completion phase of the process, it has been shown that there is a very good fit between the new and old owners. We wish them the best of luck in the future”.
IMAP advised the sellers throughout the process.
