IMAP advises the self-administration on the sale of the operating business of KÖNIG Fachpersonal to Tempton

KÖNIG Fachpersonal GmbH & Co. KG is one of the pioneers of staffing services in Germany and specialises in temporary staffing, personnel placement and HR consulting with a focus on technical trades. In 2025, the company generated revenue of approx. €50 million across more than 15 locations.

On August 19th, 2026, KÖNIG Fachpersonal GmbH & Co. KG initiated insolvency proceedings under self-administration. To address the complexity and legal challenges of the process, Christian Stoffler, partner at the law firm Gerloff Liebler Rechtsanwälte, was appointed as restructuring managing director alongside Fredrik Ljungman (Ljungman CRO GmbH) of KÖNIG Fachpersonal GmbH & Co. KG upon the order of the preliminary self-administration. The self-administration was further supported by attorney Markus Kohlstedt of the law firm ECKERT Rechtsanwälte, whom the competent local court had appointed as preliminary trustee (vorläufiger Sachwalter). Together with the extended management, the preliminary self-administration succeeded in stabilising and continuing the business operations in order to enable a structured, international investor process, which had already been launched on August 24th, 2026. Following an intensive bidding process, Tempton Personaldienstleistungen GmbH submitted the most compelling offer and is acquiring the business operations of KÖNIG Fachpersonal GmbH & Co. KG effective October 1st, 2026.

As a result, a solution was found within a very short time frame for the business unit from which the KÖNIG Group originally emerged. Tempton will take over all but five of the currently around 800 employees and continue to operate all of the division’s locations in Germany. Tempton is an owner-managed group of companies which, with more than 250 branches and more than 13,000 employees, ranks among the five largest staffing service providers in Germany.

“The structured investor process for KÖNIG Fachpersonal attracted strong interest from several renowned parties. We are delighted that the agreement with Tempton has allowed us to provide positive clarity for almost all employees just six weeks after the start of the proceedings,” explains Christian Stoffler, restructuring managing director of KÖNIG Fachpersonal GmbH & Co. KG.

The IMAP team, consisting of Nicolas Bächstädt, Alexander Köhler, Nikolaya Stoilova, Levin Kieselhorst and Pauline Wohlleben, exclusively advised KÖNIG Fachpersonal throughout all phases of a structured M&A process until its successful closing.
